Where does the unicorn come from? Once it was probably the Bible that made the mythical creature a star, or more precisely, the Old Testament. When this was translated from Hebrew into Greek, the translators stumbled upon an unknown being, the Re'em. Since nobody knew what this meant, they called the Re'em monokeros without further ado. After all, they called it "Monokeros", in English "Unicorn". Of course, the unicorn of that time had little in common with today's fantasy figure.
