Ganesha silver pendant

Ganesha, literally Lord of Hosts / Obstacles, is a god of Hinduism who is also worshiped in Buddhism. Ganesha, also called Ganapati or Gananayaka, stands for the overcoming of all obstacles of which he is the master and the new beginning, He is a typical folk god who is also considered the bringer of happiness and god of wisdom. He is often called before new ventures and adventures. 

Often depicted as a fat-bellied boy / man with an elephant head and at least 4 arms, Ganesha is a very conspicuous and colorful god. On his lotus throne, dancing through the world or sitting on his mount (a mouse), he is constantly smiling and sympathetic to people. The huge belly symbolizes the universe in which we all live, as a belt it wears a snake. With his friendly appearance he embodies the paradox that earthly pleasures do not have to be in the way of profound insight.
